High Court has directed the Secretary of Cultural Affairs department

The Hyderabad High Court has directed the Secretary of Cultural Affairs department of Telangana to appear before it to explain the basis for the approval of appointment of 550 persons as artists on nomination by the Telangana Samskruthika Samithi.

A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice K Vijaya Lakshmi was dealing with a PIL by Jukanti Ramesh and two others challenging the action of the government.Mr. Sarasani Satyam Reddy, senior counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the Samithi has taken 550 persons into government service on nomination basis and the state government has approved the appointments on February 2, 2015.

He reminded the bench that in December 2017, it had directed the Secretary to file the affidavit explaining the basis for the approval of appointments and till date no affidavit was filed.While expressing displeasure at the secretary for not filing the affidavit, the bench directed the official to appear personally on the reopening day of the court after summer vacation.
